Last month, Florida’s seasonally adjusted employment rate was at 2.6%, making it 0.1% lower than October 2022 and 0.9% lower than the November 2021 rate of 3.5%. Florida’s employment rate was 1.1% lower than the national rate of 3.7%. And Florida’s November 2022 private sector over-the-year growth rate was 5.2%, which is 1.6% higher than the national job growth rate of 3.6%.
Overall Trends in Florida’s Job Market
In November 2022, there were 280,000 unemployed Floridians out of a labor force of 10,756,000. Florida’s seasonally adjusted total nonagricultural employment was 9,562,900 in November 2022 and increased by 28,100 jobs (+0.3%) over the last month. The state gained 428,200 jobs over the year, an increase of 4.7%. As a result, November 2022 marked the thirteenth month in Florida’s total nonagricultural and private sector employment surpassed pre-pandemic levels.

North Central Florida Labor Numbers
In November 2022, Alachua County’s labor force was 144,832, and employment was 141,100. The county’s unemployment level was 3,732 at a 2.6% unemployment rate. Alachua County’s unemployment rate increased by 0.1% since October 2022 but decreased by 0.1% since November 2021. Nonagricultural employment in Gainesville was 155,800 in November 2022 and 151,800 in November 2021, increasing employment by 4,000 at a rate of 2.6%.
