WIA Youth Tutoring

CareerSource North Central Florida offers youth services through “WIA” – the Workforce Investment Act Program. We assist eligible youth between the ages 16 and 21 in achieving academic and employment success through effective and comprehensive activities. In addition to employability skills development – such as how to write resumes, fill out applications and improve interviewing skills – our Youth Team offers assistance with GED/high school diploma preparation, basic skills remediation and instruction leading to secondary school completion.

WIA Youth participants take the Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE) assessment at entry and multiple times during their participation in the program. Our team uses TABE results to identify strengths and problem areas so youth can receive tailored assistance.

All WIA Youth participants and tutors should be registered at EmployFlorida.com, the state’s online job database. Job Seekers can create online profiles, post resumes and proactively review job openings, while companies throughout Florida use the Marketplace to search for qualified candidates.
