August 22, 2019 (Starke, Fla.) – On Thursday, August 22, CareerSource North Central Florida and the North Florida Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a grand opening for the Starke Career Center, newly relocated at 101 E. Call Street in downtown Starke.
“The relocation to the heart of historic downtown Starke has been a long-time vision of CareerSource North Central Florida’s, because we believe that in order for our workforce board to provide the best possible service to our community, we need to locate and operate where businesses and prospective employees are,” said CareerSource North Central Florida Board Chair Dr. Jeffrey Tate. “We are committed to this belief because as a board of leaders in the business community, many of us have seen firsthand the ways investing in local workforces is a catalyst for local development, from new districts to the revitalization of historic downtowns.”
Board Chair Tate recognized CareerSource North Central Florida’s team for completing the move with minimal downtime to services. Services at the previous 819 South Walnut Street location ran through Thursday, June 27 at 5 pm, and resumed at the new 101 East Call Street location at 8 am on Monday, July 1.
Event attendees included the staff and board members of CareerSource North Central Florida; Bradford County Commissioner Ross Chandler; Tammy Still, Senior District Assistant for Representative Bobby Payne; representatives of the North Florida Regional Chamber of Commerce; representatives from the Greater Gainesville Chamber of Commerce; leaders in the Bradford County business community; and community members from the Starke area. Guests were treated to fresh cookies from North Florida Technical College Professional Culinary Arts and Hospitality Program as they toured the new location and visited with CareerSource North Central Florida team members.
“I am certain that this relocation will only add to what is an amazing downtown community, and that with CareerSource North Central Florida as our neighbor, we will continue to see historic downtown Starke grow and thrive, and when downtowns thrive, so do their businesses, their business owners, and the locals they employ,” said Patricia Evans, Bradford/Clay Market President for Capital City Bank, Chair of the Bradford County Development Authority, and Board Member for CareerSource North Central Florida. “So thank you to my fellow board members, to our local businesses, and to our Bradford County Commissioners for your hard work in making this happen. Your investment in this move is an investment in the future of Bradford County.”
