Gainesville Welcomes MindTree and 400 High-Tech Jobs
Gainesville selected because of the collaboration and orchestrated response from the community
MindTree Limited, a global IT and product engineering company, announced its decision to select Gainesville, FL as the site for its United States expansion Tuesday, March 27, 2012. The expansion of MindTree, co-headquartered in Warren, New Jersey and Bangalore, India, will infuse a $2.925 million capital investment into the Gainesville economy and will create 400 new high-tech jobs over the next five years.
According to the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, “MindTree officials considered site locations in South Carolina and Alabama, but ultimately selected Gainesville for the area’s innovative workforce talent, community spirit and unparalleled quality of life.”
The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Council for Economic Outreach worked with local and state partners, including representatives from FloridaWorks – the regional workforce board for Alachua and Bradford County, the University of Florida, Santa Fe College, the Alachua County School Board, Enterprise Florida, Inc. and more.
“The relationships developed with our partners and MindTree will allow us to attract, retain and develop the talent that wants to stay in our community. FloridaWorks is ready to connect people to the training, resources and services they need to find opportunity in this new economy,” states Kim Tesch-Vaught, vice president of workforce.
“MindTree recognized that Gainesville is a leader in innovation-based industry and an emerging epicenter of Creative Class job growth,” said Mayor Craig Lowe. “They rightly saw the Innovation District, with its proximity to both the University of Florida and Downtown Gainesville as the perfect place to locate their business. I am proud to welcome them to our community.”
MindTree will be located on the 2nd Avenue corridor, one of Gainesville Community Redevelopment Agency’s designated enterprise zones.
