Oct 7, 2019 (Gainesville, Fla.)- CareerSource North Central Florida congratulates Sheng Wood, Quality Performance Trainer at CareerSource NCFL, for being recognized by the Florida Workforce Development Association and CareerSource Florida as a Workforce Professional Champion and Service Innovator.
Sheng was recognized during the September 23 CareerSource North Central Florida Board Meeting at the Gainesville Career Center. “I just want the board to be aware of the quality of staff that we have here at our career center, they’re not only recognized by us here…they’re also recognized by their peers across the state,” said Dr. Jeffrey Tate, CareerSource North Central Florida Board Chair. “Thank you, Ms. Wood, and to all your colleagues and supervisors.”
The Workforce Champion and Service Innovator Awards are issued by the Florida Workforce Development Association and CareerSource Florida at the annual Florida Workforce Development Summit. The Workforce Professional Champion Award honors workforce professionals in each of Florida’s 24 workforce development boards for exhibiting leadership and emulation-worthy efforts in their daily work. From the pool of regional Workforce Professional Champions, four candidates are selected for additional recognition by the Florida Workforce Development Association and CareerSource Florida in the following categories: Leadership Ambassador, Service Innovator, Workforce Advocate and Goodwill Emissary. Service Innovators are recognized for their commitment to strengthening our workforce and making a difference through their dedication to excellence.
Sheng was recognized as the Workforce Champion for region nine, the workforce region serving Alachua and Bradford Counties. As a quality performance trainer, she helps staff provide quality services to participants and monitors the accuracy of case files. Her nomination recognized her outstanding work ethic, enthusiasm for serving as a mentor, and supportive attitude toward her peers.
