January 10, 2015 — Gainesville, FL: CareerSource North Central Florida (NCFL) board chair Don Davis has announced Kim Tesch-Vaught will step down from her role as the regional workforce board’s executive director effective January 29. Board coordinator Kim Nichols, who was executive director of Communities In Schools (CIS) of Bradford County prior to joining CareerSource NCFL, will serve as the interim executive director.
Tesch-Vaught took over leadership of the board, then known as FloridaWorks, in 2012 as an executive at Focused Management Solutions (FMS), the contracted administrative entity that provides executive, strategic and infrastructure services to the board. She had previously served 12 years at the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, 6 years in community improvement and 6 years in workforce services. She took over for Angela Pate, current president and CEO of FMS, who served as the CareerSource NCFL executive director from 2005 to 2012.
During her tenure, Tesch-Vaught took a renewed focus on the organization’s role in crafting local, state, and federal labor policy. Since 2011, it secured nearly $27M in federal funding resulting in some of the organization’s marquee business-driven and entrepreneurship programs including the HBOTT (Healthcare Biomanufacturing, Occupational Technology Training) program, Startup Quest®, and STEM Ready.
Tesch-Vaught will continue to support the community and the board as a business leader with the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Trend Realty team.
“I want to thank our board of directors for allowing me a chance to serve them and the residents of Alachua and Bradford counties for all past years,” said Tesch-Vaught. “Nothing has been more fulfilling in my career than helping residents in Alachua and Bradford counties gain access to work that gives them stability and a future. I’m proud of what we have done together, and I look forward to the continued success of the workforce board.”
“She exemplifies the passion we value as the CareerSource North Central Florida board,” Davis said of Tesch-Vaught. “Though we’re sad to see her leave, we’re proud she could take one of the nation’s leading workforce boards and continue to enhance its already stellar reputation across the country. On behalf of the CareerSource North Central Florida board of directors, we want to thank Kim Tesch-Vaught for her service and leadership. We wish her the best going forward.”
Interim executive director Kim Nichols, who has been serving as the board coordinator for CareerSource North Central Florida, brings 12 years executive and programmatic experience in workforce development from her time at Communities in Schools (CIS) of Bradford County, a long time partner of CareerSource NCFL. She knows the local system well.
Focused Management Solutions expects to present a permanent executive director candidate to the CareerSource North Central Florida board as soon as possible.
