August 6, 2019 (Starke, Fla.) – CareerSource North Central Florida announces that the Starke Career Center has now fully relocated to its new location at 101 East Call Street. Jobseekers seeking services should visit the new location. The previous location at 819 S. Walnut Street closed Thursday, June 27 at 5pm.
On Thursday, August 22, CareerSource North Central Florida and the North Florida Regional Chamber of Commerce will host a grand opening for the Starke Career Center. The event will be held at 101 E. Call Street from 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM and is open to the public. The ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 5:15 PM.
The relocated Starke Career Center is just one block off US 301 in the heart of historic downtown Starke. It sits across the street from the North Florida Regional Chamber of Commerce, which actively recruits businesses to list jobs with CareerSource North Central Florida, and Communities in Schools, who provides work-based transportation services to Bradford County residents looking to visit the career center, attend training, participate in job fairs, or need help getting to work. The new center sits just one block from the historic Santa Fe College Andrews Center and just a few blocks east of the North Florida Technical College campus, both of which train a number of CareerSource North Central Florida jobseeker participants.
“Our Board and team have worked really hard for the past year to identify a location that increases access to some of our Board’s leading partners and supports the revitalization of both downtown Starke and its business community,” said Dawn Strickland, Owner of Home Sweet Bone and 2018-2019 Chair of the Board of Directors for CareerSource North Central Florida. “To be in walking distance of so many wonderful employers and organizations means we’re not only able to maintain our existing relationships, but also foster new ones.”
“CareerSource North Central Florida relocating its Starke Career Center to historic downtown Starke will increase visibility for CareerSource North Central Florida’s services and enhance our already incredible downtown business community,” said Patricia Evans, Bradford/Clay Market President for Capital City Bank, Chair of the Bradford County Development Authority, and Board Member for CareerSource North Central Florida. “When downtown Starke thrives, so do its businesses, and in turn, so do the employers and jobseekers we’re so proud to serve every day.”
Evans championed the relocation as an initiative to better engage CSNCFL into the downtown business community in Starke.
“On behalf of our board and our team at CareerSource North Central Florida, I would like to thank the Bradford County Commission – particularly Commissioner and CareerSource North Central Florida Board Member Ross Chandler and Commissioner and CareerSource North Central Florida Dual County Consortium Member Chris Dougherty – for their leadership on this relocation,” said Frank Avery, Executive Director for CareerSource North Central Florida. “The Commission has continued to appoint exceptional Bradford County business leaders to our board who not only believe in the power of the federally-funded workforce system to change communities for the better, but are also committed to ensuring the workforce system supports the development of our historic downtowns as an economic development asset for rural communities. We’re looking forward to being neighbors with all our new partners and supporting the continued growth and vitality of Bradford County.”
