WIA Adult and Dislocated Worker

The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Adult and Dislocated Worker (DW) programs target workers who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own (dislocated workers); homemakers who have lost their financial support from a family member; recipients of public assistance and other low-income individuals when funds are limited; employed workers that need skills upgrading or retraining; veterans and eligible spouses of veterans.

WIA services may include: assessments of clients skills and interests; development of individualized employment/career plans; group/individual counseling; work experience and/or internships; referral to Adult Education – remediation; occupational skills training; on-the-job training; customized training based on the needs of specific employer(s); entrepreneurial training; supportive services to assist clients to participate in WIA activities, such as transportation or supply costs.
